Counseling

HD 100 The Psychology of Counseling
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
An introductory course covering the basic elements of the counseling ministry. The course presents a Christian view of human nature and its inner afflictions as well as practical matters concerning both the minister and the counselee. Practical “do’s and don’ts” for the local church pastor or leader are covered.

HD 101 Overcoming Depression
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Depression afflicts thousands of believers, often forcing them into shame based silence in a “victorious” Christian culture. The course covers holistic root causes (body, soul, spirit), remedies, and practical advice. The role, limitation, and dangers of pharmaceuticals (what the clinical professionals are not telling you) are also covered.

HD 102 Spirit Led Counseling
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
The most effective counseling is that which is Spirit led and empowered. The course covers how to recognize the voice of the Spirit and utilize the gifts of the Spirit in a counseling format. Topics include repentance/forgiveness, bitter root judgments, inner healing, renewing the mind, deliverance and more.

HD 103 A Biblical Psychology
Instructor: William Suttles
This course breaks down the biblical understanding of the psychology of man as "body, soul, and spirit", comparing it with the Freudian model, and seeks to expound upon the elements of the human personality: such as “the conscience" and especially how the human will “functions."

HD 104 Overcoming the Shame Accusation Cycle
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Shame plagues many believers after conversion. Shame functions with other human soul responses to form a repetitive cycle of bondage ending in accusation and more shame and bondage. The course teaches the believer to recognize the cycle and appropriate Christ’s provision as remedy. Personal one on one prayer ministry is offered.

HD 105 Whole Persons in a Broken World
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
This course examines how the “wall” between medical science and faith or religion is deleterious to human health. Reactionary extremes deny full human healing. The course emphasizes how the condition of the human soul manifests in physical diseases, as attested to by clinical data.

HD 106 Deadly Emotions and Attitudes
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
A detailed examination of specific human emotions and the physiological diseases which result from them. Unresolved emotions, or emotions addressed apart from Christ-centered, Word-centered, spirit-empowered means, result in physiological disease and death. Why don’t we see more healings? The prayer of faith, power, miracles, anointing, are all useless if issues of the inner man are not addressed. A Christian cannot afford inner “sickness” of soul: for this cause many among you are sick or dead. (1Cor. 11:30)

HD 107 Toxic Faith
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Religiosity is a soul pleasing addiction. The local church is a great place to hide from Jesus and His Cross. This course deals with various “isms,” belief systems, and behaviors that masquerade as New Testament Christianity: perfectionism, legalism, performance, moralism, authoritarianism, obsessive compulsive behavior, introspection, and more.

HD 108 The Rest is HisStory: Why are We so Stressed?
Instructor: Mary Dalbey
The soul rest Jesus promised the believer is too frequently absent. The Sabbath is not a date on the calendar but a lifestyle of surrender and trust in the Father--a rest not from ordinary labor, but from the unnecessary labor at trying to measure up and accomplish what Jesus has already done.

HD 109 Refocusing Therapy
Instructor: Diane Divett
Refocusing Counseling is a method of counseling that focuses on the whole person, intellectual, physical, emotional, social, spiritual and vocational. Its main aim is to help facilitate a process which empowers the counselee, with God’s help, to examine fundamental life questions, such as, Where have you come from? Where are you now? Where are you going? and How will you get there? The unique concept of “God spaces,” and its relationship to personal wholeness is presented and discussed.

Marriage & the Family

HD 110 One Flesh: A Non-hierarchal view of the Marriage Relationship
Instructors: Stephen and Rita Crosby
A biblical-egalitarian presentation of the husband and wife relationship. Lessons include:

• Yours, Mine, and Ours: Values Conflict
• Bee-Bees, Bazookas, and Boxcars: The Repentance/Restoration Cycle
• I’ll Paint Your Wagon: Principles of Partnership
• Captain Hook - Eros and Agape
• Rebels without a Cause: The Control, Rebellion, Rejection Cycle
• Designing from Disaster – One Flesh: the Pre-fall marriage Mandate

HD 111 I Will Give You Rest
Instructor: Edward Kurath

HD 112 Biblical Family Dynamics
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Are mothers inherently nurturers and fathers disciplinarians? How should mothers relate to daughters and sons? How should fathers? Are there similarities? Are there differences? How far does “honoring father and mother go? What about techniques of child discipline? This course examines biblical family relationships from the perspective of the “new humanity” (2 Co. 5:17, Eph. 2:15) apart from cultural stereotypes and the limitations of “role theology.”

HD 113 Parenting on Purpose
Instructors: Randy and Jacquie Alderson
Parenting on Purpose focuses on practical God-centered parenting. The course is primarily directed toward young adults who are new or yet-to-be parents, but also encourages those with older or adult children. The goal is to inspire people to see the potential for evangelism within and flowing out of the family unit, to learn to enjoy the process of raising children, and to renew their hope for the future of the next generation. Scripture, music, activities and personal experience are used to present the lessons.

Men's Ministry

HD 114 Fathers and Sons
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
The child is father to the man. A man’s relationship to his earthly father has far reaching implications throughout life. A poor father relationship is an often unrecognized and a crippling force throughout a man’s existence. This course examines issues surrounding “father wounding” and keys to healing, release and recovery, without energizing a spirit of “eternal victim-hood.”

HD 115 Men and Their Mandate
Instructor: Lon Stokes
This course covers the three W’s of biblical manhood: A man as worshipper, warrior, and worker, keeping each in its proper place, priority and emphasis. The “seasons” in a man’s life are presented with keys to recognizing and cooperating with the Spirit in each.

HD 116 Moral Men
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
This course deals frankly with male sexuality. A man often silently struggles with various sexual sins, believing himself to be the only one who has such an affliction. In the struggle he often feels cut off and isolated from the love of God. This course offers hope and deliverance to men caught in the grips of various forms of sexual bondage. Honesty is required in this course. Adolescents are encouraged to participate with parental consent. (Men only please).

HD 117 Healing the Masculine Soul
Instructor: Gordon Dalbey
Our culture is at war with masculinity. What is biblical masculinity? Reactionary extremes often find their way into the church. Many men’s ministries consist of little more than exhortations to promise to try harder, be better, and do more with a fellowship breakfast thrown in now and then. This spiritually substantive course rightly puts the cart of divine encounter and inner healing for men before the cart of duty, responsibility, and performance.

Women's Ministry

HD118 Women in Leadership and Ministry
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
This course examines controversial issues, practical and theological, surrounding “women in ministry.” With a commitment to biblical accuracy and integrity, it is a strongly “pro” presentation of the full release of women in ministry in the New Covenant era, without restriction. In depth exegesis of various “proof texts” is presented with sensitivity and commitment to universally held, conservative hermeneutical principles of biblical interpretation.

HD 119 Daughters Under Siege—Restoration of Biblical Manhood
Instructor: Jim Anderson
This course exposes the cultural sexual assault against women and calls for the restoration of Biblical manhood; a detailed look at the church’s historical role of confronting the culture, especially in the “moral areas” linked to sexuality; discusses God’s blueprint for sexuality and relationships between men and women; establishes the link between revival and proper understanding of sexuality. The sexual revolution, and the consequential sex saturation of our culture is not new; God’s people have always had to confront false demonic worship systems that had a very strong sexual component. Personal and corporate ministry time for healing and restoration in areas of sexuality follows teaching.

Youth Ministry

HD 120 Foundations of Youth Ministry.
Instructor: Jeffrey Crosby
An introductory course presenting an overview of the field of youth ministry. Among the topics covered will be Biblical foundations, developing a philosophy of youth ministry, and the youth ministry calling. Specific emphasis will be given to the elements of an effective youth ministry.

HD 121 Youth Evangelism and Discipleship.
Instructor: Jeffrey Crosby
There is a war going on for the souls of a generation of young people. Lost youth are more stressed, more confused, more bombarded by the media, more "lost" than in any time of our nation's history. This course presents three goals: to better understand the lost youth that are the recipients of our message, to effectively communicate the gospel to them in the contexts of one-on-one relationships, small groups, and preaching to larger groups, and to disciple youth in the context of relationships rather than programs.

HD 122 Restoring Power to Youth Ministry.
Instructor: Jeffrey Crosby
Christian markets are glutted with youth ministry books and resources. However, few, if any of these approach youth ministry from a "Spirit filled" perspective. What greater aim could there be than to demonstrate the living power of the Gospel to a generation of young people? This course seeks to integrate charismatic theology with the philosophy and practice of youth ministry. Some topics covered will be passion, worship, intercession, and healing, all within the context of a relevant youth ministry.

Leadership Development

HD123 Biblical Reconciliation, Restoration, and Confrontation
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Relational breakdown, church splits, and division are the curse of Protestant Christianity. If we cannot get along with each other, if every difference results in separation, the Gospel message is fatally undermined. This course presents the principles, the necessity, and the tools of conflict resolution. Emphasis is given to “cultural” issues and value systems (church and secular) that hinder biblical reconciliation. HD 124 is strongly recommended as a prerequisite to this course.

HD124 Leadership Disciplines
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
A ministry built through years of giftedness can be destroyed by a moment of character weakness. This course covers the basic spiritual disciplines required of all who are called to lead or influence. Emphasis is given to the empowering of the Spirit in the New Covenant to meet the Spirit’s own requirements. Character pitfalls of biblical leaders are examined as to cause and effect of failure in basic issues of Christ-like character (sanctification).

HD125 Biblical Servanthood: How to Serve Without Being Servile.
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Servanthood is incumbent upon every believer. This course equips for successful service through understanding who each of us is, how we are uniquely gifted, and how to draw upon the indwelling Spirit to fulfill divine commissioning in service. The course also covers how to work with authority figures who have personality faults and weaknesses, how to appeal to authority figures, how to avoid resentment in service, etc. This course presents a kingdom and destiny perspective of service beyond “eternal banishment on the local church plantation!” HD 124 is recommended as an accompaniment to this course.

HD126 Identity I
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Through the use of personality analysis, this course unlocks how we are individually “wired,” the strengths and weaknesses of divinely programmed personality attributes. The course includes instruction on how we perceive ourselves, how others perceive us, how adept are we at adjusting our behavior in different circumstances and how to recognize and get along with other personality types. This course is strongly endorsed for any type of team building or leadership training venues: ministerial or secular. (There is an additional $40.00 test fee for those who desire to have their own personality profile done during the class)

HD127 Identity 2
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Who we are in Christ and who Christ is in us. Secure identity is the basis for all successful ministry. Before He assumed any public ministry, and at three crises moments of His life, Christ had His Sonship identity confirmed by the Father. Our need is no less. More personal pain, relational conflict, and local church difficulty stems from unresolved identity issues than any other single “ministry related” problem. Wholeness of identity should be prerequisite to, and is essential for, fruitful, Spirit empowered, long lasting, dynamic, kingdom ministry.
