of Accounting

Christian ministries need to be financially and legally accountable.
This course covers an introduction to GAPP: Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles; preparation and analysis of financial statements,
accounts receivable and payable, payroll, payroll and non profit
tax preparation, creation of and management of organizational
budgets.

a Poverty Mentality

Biblical principles of prosperity; the purpose of prosperity,
dealing with poverty mindsets, the power of blessing, Old and
New Covenant attitudes toward money and finance, Jesus and finance;
understanding the economic paradigm of the Gospels in cultural
context.

How to conduct effective meetings, structure, organizational culture,
communication skills, definition of an organization, functional
and dysfunctional organizations and systems; the group dynamics
of any human organization—church or secular; what are they?

Organizational human development; creating job descriptions, job
analysis, conducting performance reviews, compensation, hire/fire,
benefit management, how to conduct interviews, legislative requirements.
BF 104 Strategic
Management

How to set attainable goals, creating mission and vision statements,
“market placement,” internal and external organizational
environment analysis, critical path project management: how to
oversee and implement projects from conception to completion.
BF105 The Christian’s
Personal Finances
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Statistics indicate that 40% of annual bankruptcies are filed
by individuals claiming to be born again. There is a need to provide
basic financial discipline to believers. This course deals with
a believer’s attitude toward personal finance, management
of personal finance; debt, and debt reduction, giving, operating
a personal budget, savings, investing, how to balance a checking
account, etc.
BF 106 Effective
Public Speaking
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
Social surveys indicate that the two most common fears of humanity
are death and the fear of public speaking. This course is “homiletics”
for the business person; how to prepare and make effective public
presentations; practical tips, dos and don’ts; extensive,
hands on class time is given to preparing a presentation and critique.
BF 107 The Christian
and the Marketplace
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
What is the business anointing? Is there such a thing? Surviving
in a local church when you are not “called to ministry,”
the business person/pastor relationship, the anointing for finance;
the charisma of giving; how to make money without loving money;
ethics in business; how to maintain one’s testimony in the
business world.
BF 108 The Church
and Tax Law
Instructor: Stephen Crosby
This course deals in depth with legal issues and Christian ministry;
incorporation--should we or shouldn’t we? How to start a
church or ministry and be in legal and tax compliance; the tax
exempt application process; dual status clergy; parsonage allowance;
how to avoid an audit; how to survive an audit; IRS record keeping
requirements; clergy and ministerial compensation, corporation
minutes and annual board meeting requirements; the latest tax
law developments as they affect non -profits.
BF 109 The Christian
Entrepreneur
Instructor: J. Randall Gladden
How to grow assets and entrepreneurship for both secular and kingdom
purposes; the Christian business person/entrepreneur and his relationships
within and without the church; the entrepreneur and his leaders;
creative business development; working with civic/government officials;
investment & investment strategy.
